Painting Scenics Made EZ
and CHEAP!

Washes

Do clean your small brush but there is no need to be too fastidious.

Mix your wet brush and a little black making a thin wash.

We got a great tip from one of our customers, Tod Kershner and he says he likes to use windshield washer fluid as a thinner, “it does allow the color to settle into the creases and gives a much better finish.”

Apply the wash to any low lying areas, cracks and recesses.

Mix red and black in a light wash.

Apply this to the doors. Red has historically been an inexpensive paint and was used liberally on all wood surfaces. You can paint your wood any color you want or not at all but remember wood becomes grey in the elements. A common mistake we see are untreated wood surfaces painted brown.
