| Cuirassiers are issued with carbines in 1812 and thus wear the cartridge shoulder belt. However, cuirassiers are primarily shock troops and are used for massed charges. In such a role, their carbines are usually left behind with the baggage, such as at Waterloo. Their main weapon is thus the sword (and in the melee, the pistol). |
