| Enhanced for commanding combat. The A5 version of the Leopard 2 adds wedge-shaped armor to protect the tank's front and side sections from hollow charges. Spall liners were placed inside to minimize shrapnel damage in the event of a direct hit. Turret controls are now completely electric, for more consistent performance and reduced all-up weight. The Royal Netherlands Army operated nearly 450 Leopard 2s until 2011. Virtually all of the unit's remaining Leopards were sold to the Indonesian Army. Kit features components and markings specific to Leopard 2 variants used by the Netherlands. |
